British-Chinese tenor Benjamin Durrant studied at the Royal College of Music with Tim Evans-Jones, graduating with Distinction. Formally an Academical Clerk at Magdalen College, Oxford and Lay Clerk at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, Benjamin was recently appointed a member of 'Britain's only full-time professional chamber choir' the BBC Singers.
Benjamin holds a particular passion for Baroque, Renaissance, and Contemporary music, and alongside his duties with the BBC Singers enjoys a busy freelance career in oratorio and consort singing. He has sung with many of the world's leading vocal ensembles including The Tallis Scholars, The Cardinall's Musick, The Marian Consort, Stile Antico, as well as Collegium Vocale Gent, The Gabrieli Consort, and The Sixteen, and has performed as a soloist in many prestigious concert venues around the world including Stockholm Concert Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, and Beijing's National Centre for Performing Arts.
Previous operatic engagements include Arioch (Belshazzar) with the Grange Festival, Don José (Carmen) and Faust (Faust) with Brent Opera, Dandini (Cendrillon) with Bampton Classical Opera, and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) with Waterperry Opera Festival. Benjamin has also participated in masterclasses with world-renowned artists in their field including Dame Sarah Connolly, Roger Vignoles, John Mark Ainsley, Kim Begley, and David Rendall.
